Cocktail of the month - The Zombie

Lets be honest, who's been to a bar and asked for the strongest cocktail they have? 9 times out of 10 they're going to serve you up a Zombie.

Despite its sweet and fruity taste, it's known for its high alcohol content, giving it a pretty impressive reputation as one of the strongest cocktails on many bar menus.

With notes of pineapple, citrus, and fiery spices, the Zombie perfectly balances sweetness, tartness, and rum-richness.

A Tiki legend!

You will need...

37.5ml white rum

37.5ml dark rum

12.5ml overproof rum

20ml fresh lime juice

50ml pineapple juice

12.5ml passion fruit syrup

Ice

10ml grenadine

Half of 1 passion fruit to garnish

Here's how...

1. Add all ingredients except the Grenadine.

2. Fill your cocktail shaker with Ice

3. Shake vigorously until well chilled and slightly foamy

4. Pour into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.

5. Drizzle Grenadine over the top

6. Garnish with half a passion fruit

Once you master this, we can talk about flaming zombies... but lets not get carried away!

The mix of multiple rums and tropical juices can make the Zombie a little too easy to drink, so see how the first one settles before you go for round 2.

As an tipsy bake I recommend a Zombie cheesecake. It brings all the fun, colour, and flavour of the cocktail but as a yummy grown up dessert.
